Matcha of this extreme quality is exceedingly hard to both produce and to procure, yet here it is, thanks to an obsessed grower who offered it to us.
This matcha is pure pleasure -- it's like drinking light infused with chlorophyll. It bestows a brothy umami torrent that continues long after swallowing (up to several full minutes of finish), and its ultra-fine texture and overall quality mean that it whisks up into gorgeously thick clouds of emerald froth that remain in the bowl long after the liquid is gone.
Dominant aromas are freshly picked young peas, shiitake, and sweet cream. Silky as it gets. Its high levels of L-theanine and other amino acids snap the brain to attention, making it the perfect beverage for prolonged bouts of study, writing, or any other intellectual pursuit. From a truly talented matcha farmer near Byodoin Temple, Uji, Kyoto, Japan. Very limited quantities available.
HOW TO MAKE
I have been drinking 99 daily since discovering Breakaway. I have now tried every blend from 97 through Daphne. They are each delicious in their own way. Most recently I tried Hikari for the first time as part of a sampler along with 97, 100,and SE. It is exceedingly smooth, not as dark in flavor as I would describe Daphne nor does it have the hint of sweetness that I found in Rikiyu. Smooth, rich, light filled. For me it is perfect blend for indulging in some quiet, contemplative moments.
smooth, creamy, refreshing like hand cultivated tea grown in the garden--WOW!!!!!
Excellent....the very best I've had along with the Blend Daphne. Certainly once you sip the Blend Hikari, which feels something like drinking green forest light, you will never want to drink anything else.
I've just started with the matcha experience and am thoroughy enjoying this Blend Hikari. Beautiful green liquid, which looks as creamy as it tastes. Just enough sweetness, a dash of bitterness and a lingering mouthfeel that is tantalizing. Customer service is extraordinary and even the packaging is exquisite. When I open the package I already know there is something wonderful I'm about to take part in.
Thanks to all of you for making this a wonderful experience.
The finest treasure yet. Thank you
Every day I enjoy two to three cups of Matcha.
I try to choose the BEST of the BEST.
With this one, I felt almost in Paradise!
The smell is perfect, then there is a bit chocolate, toffee taste and in the end a "fume" taste that stays for a while, just to remind you that after all another cup could be an obligation.
I, like many of us I suspect, have gotten into the habit of hurrying through my mornings. Hikari makes me spend the extra time to slow things down a bit as I get ready to approach the day. From the Spring-like vegetal aroma that wafts up during preparation to the lingering umami after sipping, you may find yourself wanting to hit pause as well. There's a lot to enjoy from beginning to end.
