I was very excited to try this matcha. The reviews I'd read were raving. So, when my package arrived, I ripped it open and prepared my matcha according to instructions included. By the way, the packaging was very impressive. I had received the Nirvana set. Very good quality. Okay, so I took a sip, then another, this time swishing it around. Then took a big wiff of the matcha in the bag. Here's my experience. I guess I expected more flavor. It was definately lacking any hint of bitterness. But, it seemed a bit one dimensional, as well. Was it just me? Over several days I made more, tinkering with the amount I used per serving. Using 3 or 4 scoops vs. one did help. But, as someone said before in one of the reviews, "you have to try them all until you find your perfect matcha". I like my espressos and teas with lots of depth and flavor yet smooth and well rounded. But, for family and friends, this matcha would work great. I found it to be very light on the tongue. I didn't taste sweetness. But, I didn't taste bitterness either. I would like to taste some of Breakaway's other blends to compare. But, they don't have a sampler at this time and they are, understandably, expensive. I would love to sample the others if and when they do offer a sampler pack. In the meantime, I found another matcha from another company that I blend the Breakaway matcha 100 into. And that works very well. I will definitely drink it up because it is a nice matcha. It's just not my perfect blend.

I ordered the Nirvana tea set with the Breakaway 97 and I felt like a kid at Christmas when it arrived so beautifully packaged. The pottery is beautiful and fun, and the matcha (and salt) is superb! I am new to matcha and so glad I started my journey with you. The personalized notes on my packing slip were a welcome surprise touch, and much appreciated. Thank you!

The Breakaway Blend 100 is by far the best matcha I have ever had, and that includes matcha from some very high end Japanese tea houses in NYC. The Breakaway Organic Blend 94 is still my everyday matcha but I break this baby out for special occasions or sometimes just because. The pottery is lovely - very high quality and designed perfectly to make a great cup of matcha.

The matcha(Blend 94) came in a nice looking tin with a double lid setup, was almost neon green(slightly darker than neon), and when made with warm/hot water has a very slight bitter taste(when made with cold no bitterness). The kit is very easy to use. I will be getting more matcha from this company in the future and will be trying out each of their blends.

The set is a great value and makes the matcha experience a lot of fun. Blend 99 is amazing - creamy body and zero bitterness. The ceramic set is beautiful. Thanks!

I had been hesitant to purchase because it's a bit of a hefty initial expense... but I'm glad I did! The ceramics are beautiful and earthy and the matcha is better than any other I've tried before (I tried the blend 94.) You need the tools in order to make it correctly, and this set provides everything in one easy package. I haven't had a chance to try out the matcha salt yet but it smells amazing.

I absolutely love this blend. Creamy, smooth no bitter after taste at all.
Great product. Can't wait to try the other blends. Hopefully wont be disappointed since I started on top.
I never had matcha in my life. I'm hooked.
Makes me feel very calm yet very clear and alert. Thank you Eric

I got the set with the Blend 99 and not only do I love the tea, I love the entire process of making my morning and afternoon matcha. Such a soothing way to wake up in the morning!

This has been a great introductory set for me! I find it easy to use at the office where the traditional whisk and bowl method can get a bit messy very quickly if you're not careful. All in all, I'm very pleased - I love matcha.

I jumped in to the Breakaway approach to matcha with both feet and splurged on this set with blend 99. I watched Eric's how-to video and made a great tasting and great looking cup of matcha on the first try. I will keep my matcha bowls and bamboo whisk for special occasions, but this is really quick and convenient.

The design of the creamer / sieve / frother is brilliant and the tea is excellent.

I got this set as a Christmas gift from my wife after experimenting with matcha. As you probably noticed there is a lot of equipment but it all really does help keep it simple while still making a great cup of matcha.
The bamboo scoop is very traditional even though it takes some practice to get the right portion so while I might have an easier time with a spoon the scoop has a certain coolness factor.
The mesh strainer definitely helps to get a smooth consistency without clumping. I have tried it without straining and you have to be a lot more diligent with your mixing to avoid clumping.
The battery powered mixer does a good job of getting a cream froth and gets right down into the pitcher to give a uniform mix (my wife also uses to froth milk for espresso and coffee- heretic!). The mixer does go through batteries fairly quickly and the mixing action decreases as batteries wear down but it sure makes mixing easy.
The ceramic pieces are well made, function very well and have a lot of character. They are definitely hand made so you may be disappointed if you don't appreciate the rustic look and feel of hand shaped pieces but it's a look I prefer. The only things that I don't care for about them is the colors are kind of blah (personal opinion only), and they have a smooth texture that makes them a little slippery for my taste. But I guess I haven't dropped one yet so maybe not that big a problem but I am always worried.
