If you're planning on using matcha as an ingredient--that is to say, you'll be baking with it or plan to add milk, sugar, or ingredients in smoothies, lattes, frappaccinos, etc., this is the matcha you want. It's a robust matcha with excellent color, good umami, and imparts a very smooth "matcha" taste to dishes. It makes superb foamed milk drinks, and even makes a good matcha salt.
There really is no compelling reason to use a better quality sipping/savory matcha for these purposes; if you'll be applying oven or stovetop heat, or will be adding fat (milk) and sweetness to it, our culinary blend is the ideal matcha.

This culinary-grade matcha is superb, and I disagree with the notion that is shouldn't be sipped straight up (well, dust with stevia and you're good to go). I add this to my kale/blueberry smoothies for a refreshing start to each morning. Thanks to Breakaway M. for giving us an excellent quality matcha that mere mortals can afford. Well done!

This matcha is perfect for cooking or making a nice matcha latte in the morning. I was looking for something that would be delicious with milk, but without paying for the top-shelf subtleties that the milk or recipe would mask anyhow. I am very pleased. This "culinary" matcha is better than many other "sipping" matchas I have tried. Can't wait to try some of the even more refined matchas that Breakaway offers!

We are huge fans of matcha shots from Jamba Juice and have been attempting to duplicate them at home for years. We were thrilled to find the culinary matcha, which allows us to make the perfect match shot using chilled vanilla soy milk and ice.
I can't wait to try making matcha ice cream suggested in the previous review.

This matcha makes matcha ice cream fit for the gods. And it's SO beautiful. I have to think of other ways to use it, but until I get tired of matcha ice cream, I have no real motivation to use it any other way. I just soften vanilla ice cream a bit, sprinkle this in, and refreeze. I'm hooked.
